How MALENA Controls Makeup Brush Shedding, Density and Handle Attachment

A practical guide to deep-root AB adhesive, individual bristle-weight control within 0.1 g, and dual or triple ferrule crimping for OEM/ODM makeup brushes.

For beauty brands sourcing OEM/ODM makeup brushes, three concerns matter especially: loose bristles, inconsistent density and brush heads separating from handles. A reliable production process should address each concern with specific controls—not just a general promise of quality. Here is how MALENA approaches these three areas.

1. Anti-shedding: deep adhesive penetration and pull testing

We inject high-quality, washable two-component AB adhesive deep into the bristle roots so that it penetrates the bundle and secures the base of the hairs, rather than only coating the surface. After shaping, every brush undergoes physical combing and a pull test before packaging to remove loose, unsecured hairs and check bristle retention. These controls are designed to minimise shedding during normal use and cleaning.

Why it matters: surface-only gluing can leave hairs inside the bundle insufficiently secured. Deep penetration addresses the roots, while combing and pull testing provide a physical check before the brush leaves the factory.

2. Consistent density: precise weighing and fixed shaping moulds

Once the pre-production sample is approved, we lock the standard bristle weight for that brush shape. During production, the bristles for each head are individually weighed with a tolerance within 0.1 g and shaped in a fixed-diameter mould. Controlling both hair weight and shaping volume helps keep bulk-production density consistent with the approved reference sample.

Why it matters: density is not judged by appearance alone. A defined weight and fixed mould give the production team concrete controls against sparse or inconsistent brush heads.

3. Secure attachment: adhesive bonding plus mechanical crimping

We combine chemical bonding with mechanical fixation. Industrial-grade, washable two-component AB adhesive bonds the ferrule to the handle; after precise assembly, dual or triple-step crimping secures the metal ferrule into the grooves of the wooden or plastic handle. This two-part approach helps reduce loosening associated with humidity, temperature changes and adhesive ageing.

Why it matters: adhesive and crimping perform different roles. Using both provides reinforcement beyond adhesive alone; the crimping configuration should match the agreed brush construction.

Ask for evidence before shipment

When agreeing your order, discuss pre-shipment inspection reports or videos covering pull testing and drop testing. Test conditions, acceptance criteria and report availability should be confirmed for the specific order. Clear evidence is more useful than an absolute claim such as ‘zero shedding in every circumstance’.

For your next OEM/ODM project, confirm the approved reference sample, hair-weight tolerance, adhesive specification and attachment construction with MALENA before bulk production. Care instructions and agreed inspection criteria also matter for long-term brush performance.
