MOQ for Private Label Makeup Brushes: What's Realistic in 2026

Real MOQ numbers for private label makeup brushes by brush type, hair material and packaging. Avoid the 500-piece trap.

If you're hearing "MOQ 5,000" from one factory and "MOQ 100" from another, both are technically true. Here's what's actually behind those numbers.

The MOQ is a stack, not a single number

A private-label brush MOQ is built from three independent minimums:

  1. Hair fiber — synthetic PBT/nylon stocked; goat/squirrel/sable made-to-order.
  2. Ferrule — aluminum/copper tube; printed ferrules need 1,000+ pcs to break even on tooling.
  3. Handle — wood lathed-to-order, plastic injected (mould cost $300–$1,500).

Your real MOQ is the largest of the three.

How to hit a lower effective MOQ

  • Pick from our stock handles (200+ shapes) — keeps MOQ at 500.
  • Use shared tooling — split a custom mould across multiple SKUs.
  • Order multi-color from one mould — colorways count as separate SKUs but share tooling cost.

What MOQ really costs you

At 500 pcs you'll pay ~30% more per piece than at 3,000 pcs. Run the math: sometimes ordering 1,500 and storing 1,000 beats reordering small batches every quarter.

Bottom line

500 pcs is the honest floor for a serious factory. Anyone offering 100 pcs is reselling stock with your sticker on it — fine for testing, bad for scaling.
